Hey, I’m Markus, welcome on my page.
This is the first draft… OK, there are not much second chances in life. But in writing it’s possible, anyway… I’m at a point now where done is better than perfect. And I really believe in coming back later and in revisiting and redoing things. Because then you have more experience and a different perspective.
I document the way from a brick and mortar business owner into the digital world. At least to combine a bit of both worlds.
Right now, I get my second degree in business and also run my advertising business. And through this, I got a whole different perspective on several topics in this field.
My primary focus lies in email marketing… yeah and the twist is I’m a privacy and security nerd… not the super-duper computer whizz whose code is digital magic. But I have a strong sense of freedom and this translates into my wired adventure to combine marketing and privacy.
The primary catalyst for my thoughts to materialize is to write. Mostly Longhand… yeah, but not all… there are things I need to read again :-)…
Anyhoo…
To get an edge on this journey, I write my diploma on this topic. Therefor I need some people who share some of their experiences and opinions. To have a scientifically correct workflow.
I dissect the critical parts of both worlds and, at the end, there will be something different. I don’t know what it will be. But the fundamentals are still true and valuable.
People want and need to interact with each other. Even if it’s just around the basic need… food, shelter and to get some human experiences. And yeah, many aspects are now on and around the web.
Over email, my preferred tool to communicate meaningful thoughts, it’s possible to have a personal connection. I see it how it was in the old days.
Like as there is an expedition in an uncharted and unpredictable place on the earth. And the adventurer captures a few glimpses of the journey on pencil and paper, with all the dangerous and excitement jumping out of the pages.
As right now I stand in between the both worlds. Data driven mass optimized sometimes persuasive marketing and also management. On the other side the urge to tell my “buddy” about stuff I find cool and interesting.
In this transition, there are many gems to uncover. Some of them are in plain sight, but invisible.
Yeah… interesting and hard. The easy route has disappointed me on countless times. So I have a tendency to take the ultra-hard paths… Ultra in that way… that I tent to do many hard things at once.
The learning curve rises exponentially there. One thing that I wittiness’d over the years is that you seem to get stuck and nothing will work out…
This is the point where I really appreciate the story of the man who wanted to find diamonds. (Link here) In Short… just stick to it. Mostly, there are just a few more inches to go…
The success rule I live by is: “50% of success is showing up the other 50% are sticking trough” You can sprinkle in a good amount of I don’t care… It’s about the actions you take, not the outcomes. That’s the only constants. The amount of work you put in.
When you detach yourself from the expeditions, you will have more fun and better results over the long run. The best thing that happens is when you have so much fun on the way, that you never want to arrive.
I guess it’s better for me to make a section for my life philosophies…
Alright that’s all for now.
Have tremendous fun and a ton of success,
Markus “lost philosopher” Winkler
